Iago
August 1993 - April 2001
Iago came to us from a local pet store in September of 1993. She was the most intelligent one of the bunch; the one who was always getting into things that were off limits. She taught us how to ferret proof our home! Iago demanded our attention more than our other ferrets, but she was also the most generous with her love. She was a real trooper, living for 4 more years after being diagnosed with adrenal disease in 1997. At times it was difficult to watch her struggle, but overall her illness didnt slow her down until the very end. She passed away in April of 2001 and is now waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. Iago will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
Jake
June 1994 - November 1999
We purchased Jake from Path Valley Farms in July of 1994. He turned out to have more brawn than brains. He was the type of ferret who ran into walls and fell off the couch on a daily basis. Jake had a fascination with hiding his favorite toys, unfornuately, we were included in his collection. He loved to take ahold of our finger and try to drag us underneath the couch to join his stash.....it was a tight fit! Jake passed away on Thanksgiving day 1999 after a year long struggle with insulinoma. He is also waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge where we are sure he has a new collection of toys to show us!
Abs(aka Abby)
April 1995 - May 2004
We bought Abs from a private breeder called Treasured Ferrets in June of 1995. Since then she has given us nothing but enjoyment. On April 19, 1996 she gave birth to 3 beautiful kits, and gave us the opportunity to raise a litter. Click here for the full story on her pregnancy and delivery. Abby lived to a ripe old age of 9 years, however, she passed quickly without a long suffering illness when her time came.
Spur
April 1996 - 2003
Spur is one of Abby's babies, although he is not a little baby anymore. He ended up being the largest of our ferrets, tipping the scales over 5 pounds in his youth. Despite his size, Spur is calm and extremely gentle; he will sit in your lap for long periods of time without squirming, pondering his next meal. During his late years he spent more and more of his playtime sleeping in some hard to reach hiding place, but he would always get rowdy for a treat. Spur crossed the Rainbow Bridge after a relatively short battle with insulinoma.
Kitiara (aka Kit)
April 1996 - October 2001
Kit was also one of Abby's children that we couldn't bring ourselves to give away. She had the cutest button nose when she was little, but as she grew that nose turned upwards. Kit had a very aloof personality; but she would still crawl up into our laps for kisses. She passed away in October of 2001 after a very brief bout with insulinoma. She too is waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.
Smokey
January 1996 - October 2004
We adopted Smokey from a ferret shelter in December of 1998. At first she was a very frightened and insecure little girl, but she has since become a well adjusted and delightful addition to our family. Smokey has an obsession with plastic of any kind; she can be seen dragging plastic bags many times her weight around the room, trying to hide them. Smokey's adrenal disease finally caught up with her, and with her passing we are now "ferretless". :(
Our Ferret Photo Gallery
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
